Julia’s Better World Programs create avenues through which music can contribute to good in our communities and our lives.  Julia spent many years working in nonprofit community organizations on social justice and human rights issues, and she speaks about many of these issues in her music.   If you are a part of an organization (community, nonprofit, volunteer, school, religious, library or other), check out the programs below.  Our hope is that this music can help to create greater connection, meaning, and inspiration in the important work of your group.

Album Proceeds:  Get regular donations to your org
Julia will donate a portion of the profits from every album she sells to organizations that work to create a better, more peaceful and just world.  Each album will benefit a different organization.  A portion of the proceeds from her album “In The Wildflowers And Weeds” will be donated to Women For Women International in support of women around the world who are surviving the atrocities of war.  www.womenforwomen.org.  If your organization would like to be considered as a future beneficiary, send your org’s info to programs@julialau.net.

Benefit Performances:  Get performances at your org fundraisers
In an effort to help organizations raise funds, Julia and her band offer their live performance services for fundraising events.  Julia has contributed performances to many organizations, including the ACLU, Chinese Progressive Association, Breast Cancer Fund, San Francisco Women Against Rape, and the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum.  Click here for a full list of past performances.  If your organization would like Julia and her band to perform at an upcoming event, contact programs@julialau.net.

Songs For A Better World:  Get songs to use in your org’s work
This program seeks to provide organizations with relevent music to use in their work. Songs could be used at actions, meetings, and events as well as on websites, videos, documnetaries or as lyrics printed in newsletters.  First, look through Julia’s list of songs to see if any are relevent and could be of use to your org.  Julia’s songs cover a broad range of issues including women’s issues, immigrants rights, war, poverty, domestic violence, child abuse, and beauty standards.  They also speak to core themes including fear, coping with hardship, struggle, letting go, making connections, growth and self empowerment.  Click here for a list of Julia’s songs by theme.  If your org’s issue is not covered in any of the existing songs, Julia may be able to personally create a song for your org. CDs For A Better World:  Raise money for your org by selling CDs
Through this program, organizations use Julia’s album to raise funds for their work.  Here’s how it works: 
• Your org purchases 25 or more CDs, $6 per CD
• Your org sells the CDs for $12 each and keeps the profits!
